Title: My building is getting fancy again
Post by: BLeafe on August 26, 2014, 05:50:56 PM
We got a new mini-awning with the building's original name on it. It doesn't extend to the street as our old one did (second picture) or as just about every other one in the world does, so it's really pretty useless, but it looks nice in a form-over-function way. So much for the residents staying dry in rainy weather when they're being picked up by a vehicle at the curb.

To be fair, though, the new landlord IS making improvements. He completely renovates apartments when tenants move out. Of course, the rent goes way up, but you get a nicer-looking space to live in.

Have they invested the big bucks to replace the old elevator, with the pull gate ?

The answer is no and no (there are 2 elevators - both have those gates).

I've heard discussion about various improvements to come, but no mention of the large needed ones that affect all tenants.

So far, it appears to be lipstick on a p......p......p......pretty old building.
