Seller's description:

Here is a very neat photo shows a view of the Girls High School Basketball Team in 1916 from Hackensack, NJ. The mat frame measures approx. 14 by 12 inches, the photo is 7 1/2 by 9 1/2 inches, shows some wear and tear from the years, freshly removed from album after long storage. These were found in an estate sale box with lots of other neat old photos.

Apparently, this photo was taken by - or the property of - someone who lived at 50 Anderson St, but I can't make out the name.

That's what the sign says:

Hey - I don't write 'em.........I just shoot 'em.

These are two Main St views that you may have seen before. Since the greedy seller wants way too much money to start the bidding, I've decided not to bother posting the auctions - just the pictures.

Seller's description:

This old metal bell is signed "Lowits Boys' Dept. Everything Boys Wear, 154 Main Street, Hackensack, N.J." and the back is signed "Merry Christmas and Happy New Year".

The back reads Patent Pending, so it is pretty early!

It measures approx. 3 1/4" x 1 1/2" wide. This bells were used at Christmastime and Santa Claus would stand outside Lowits dept. store and wait for donations for the poor.

The other little copper antique bell is a bonus. It has a cloth handle.

Hackensack Discussion / The Shadow of God over Anderson St
« on: December 12, 2009, 09:16:32 PM »
Earlier this week, I showed you traffic lights against the Holman's side wall.

Today, I took a cellphone shot from my living room of some shadows there. An obvious tree is on the right and the other one is from the First Presbyterian Church's steeple on the corner of Passaic and Union streets - a full 2 blocks away diagonally.

Maybe it's gonna oversee the Anderson St repairs.

Seller has no date information on this 6" x 8" item. I wonder what the significance of the flowers (?) at her feet is.

The studio's address appears to be 108 Main St.

............I came across these random images: The Record issue from the day after Pearl Harbor, The China Inn on Main St MC, and the New Hackensack Fire Co patch (New Hackensack - like the larger Wappingers Falls - is a village within the Town of Wappinger.......even though there's no actual town called Wappinger that you can go to. New York's screwy like that).

Unused/undated.

Remember when I wrote this a week ago?

"Of interest to those who think General Poor's statue has only faced one direction, this shows him facing north instead of the current south. If I recall correctly, he's faced in three directions, though I don't remember what the third orientation was.

Probably toward his tavern.
;)

I was right!

This is a pretty good deal for ten bucks!

Old Main St, Court Square (The Green), the old High School, the Armory, and the old Court House (which could probably command ten bucks by itself).

I'd value the lot at $25-$30.
