What - no pictures of Ol' Homer the Shore bird letting loose in Manasquan?

I heard a familiar sound overheard on Monday, but saw nothing in the sky because it was foggy. It happened more than once - almost consecutively.

The third time was the charm. I could barely make out something in the sky and took a picture in that direction. If you squint at the first image below, you might be able to make out that it's an Osprey and there are usually a few in the sky around Memorial Day, using Teterboro as a base. So I'm guessing what I heard were 3 of them arriving.

I heard the sound again yesterday coming from east of me and took the picture of one somewhere over Teaneck (I think).

I suspect you'll be hearing them more often between now and Monday.

The Holy Trinity Church annual carnival is next week and this online reminder shows a picture of an exciting new ride that adults are quite familiar with.

Despite the long lines it always generates, I don't think they'll make much - if any - money on this one.

Marine 1st Lt. William C. Ryan, Jr was buried yesterday, just hours after his wife's funeral service. She had waited 48 years and received word that his remains had been found in January, just before she learned that she had stage-four cancer.

Hackensack Discussion / Re: 2017 Council Election

The Record is full of surprises today.................and I haven't even finished reading it yet.

After seeing the strange sign that I posted earlier today, I got as far as the classifieds, where I always check the Antique & Classic car offerings to see if anyone's giving away a 1963 split-window Corvette.

Unfortunately, that's not happening today, but there was an unusual new ad that I had never seen before: "Old Mafia Vehicles" and its picture showed a Cadillac being pulled from some body of water.

Is there a market for such cars?

Click to enlarge the picture so you can see what else it said and check out the URL.

Not sure how that works, but I found this in today's Record. The article mentioned Main and Demarest, but not Essex.

I might be a bit biased, but I agree.  ;)

The article also contains a link to the original 2012 story in The Record.

Am I the only one here who never set foot in the OFC?

I never did either.

I wish I had the opportunity to document the interior at the bitter end.

This is bits and pieces of multiple small videos shot from the roof of the Johnson Public Library yesterday and sewn together by QuickTime without a lot of rhyme or reason.

Please use the option to view on YouTube.

The first pic is the 3-pic photostitch I shot yesterday as the last image of what was still standing of the OFC. You may need to scroll a bit.

What was standing yesterday was taken down early this morning and by the time I got there, this is what it looked like (second pic).

There wasn't much else to shoot except for the front steps, a rubble closeup and the last rites anointing with holy water (the truck couldn't get clearance for chrism [holy oil]).

The last image can be found in much better shape in my April 19 post. This one has more of a fitting finality to it.
