Title: HACKENHENGE (reverse Manhattanhenge)
Post by: BLeafe on October 20, 2018, 01:20:19 PM
Five years ago, I posted the above link. Because the stated effect was probably visible at different times of the year anywhere in the county that had a view of the Manhattan skyline, I posted it on the Bergen County Historical Society's forum (which I also moderate) - hence, the BCHS link.

For over a year now, that forum has been down, due - supposedly - to some very minor-sounding problem. Months later, it still wasn't up, so I inquired when the "minor problem" would be fixed. I was told not to worry and that all the tons of historical content were there - as in "not lost".

It may be “not lost”, but it's still "not visible". All subsequent inquiries regarding the resurrection of the forum have been completely ignored. This is VERY disappointing, coming from an organization that takes great pride in unearthing and displaying local history. There must be some secret reason why they've buried this particular trove. Whatever that reason is, it can't be a good one if it lessens the amount of material that’s been available to the public for years.

So what I'm getting at is that - for some unwilling-to-be-discussed reason - the link doesn't work.

The “good” news is I’ve just posted a more fleshed-out version of the Hackenhenge effect on my photoblog:
