Title: Tom Petty - Rest In Peace
Post by: BLeafe on October 03, 2017, 05:29:59 PM
I don't want to wish ill on anyone, but I could probably think of a few hundred musicians I would miss a whole lot less than Tom Petty.

He was just a nice guy who could really rock out and wrote tremendous songs for a long period of time.

Here are some of my favorite shots that I took of Tom:

1. 1979 - at the No Nukes concert at Madison Square Garden with Clarence Clemons, Roy Bittan, Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Browne and Rosemary Butler

2. 1981 - at the Brendan Byrne Arena in East Rutherford

3&4.  1985 - at the first Farm Aid Benefit Concert in Champaign, IL

5. 1987 - at Madison Square Garden

Nice. I found myself picking up the old guitar last night strumming along to a bunch of old Petty songs.

It's been a sad few days...

And here they are (Tom didn't write the next-to-last song, which comes from an old favorite, eponymously-titled 1969 album: Thunderclap Newman):
