Below is a picture I took of Kevin (wearing darkened glasses) with then-Governor Jon Corzine, State Senator Loretta Weinberg and Michael Trepicchio (above Loretta), former president of the Bergen County Historical Society and former chairman of the Historic New Bridge Landing State Park Commission. It was taken outside the Steuben House in River Edge on June 9, 2009 (sorry - I don't know the two other gentlemen).

The event invitation read thusly:

Dear Friend of Historic New Bridge Landing,

Governor Jon Corzine will visit Historic New Bridge Landing to ceremonially sign the Historic New Bridge Landing Park legislation, which recently passed the Legislature unanimously. The Historic New Bridge Landing Park Commission and the Bergen County Historical Society cordially invite you to attend the ceremony at the Zabriskie-Steuben House, 1209 Main Street, River Edge, at 1:30 PM, Tuesday, June 9, 2009. At 2 PM, the Governor will "unveil"  the new sign changing the name of the North Hackensack NJ Transit station to New Bridge Landing. The Demarest House, adjacent to the Steuben House, which the Blauvelt-Demarest Foundation is presently restoring, will be open to show the great progress being made in preserving and interpreting this Revolutionary War battleground. The Historical Society will provide refreshments. Join us at the Bridge That Saved A Nation for this special occasion. Come a little early!

Along with a million other historical projects, Kevin was THE main force in making this (and practically everything else HNBL-related) happen.

He knew everything about everything and GLADLY shared his knowledge in interesting and easy-to-digest terminology.

Bergen County has lost its biggest advocate of local history................and it is a MASSIVE loss.
