Our team accepted Eli's Challenge to raise funds in support of pediatric cancer research and to help Tackle Kids Cancer. Eli Manning, quarterback of the New York Giants, has agreed to match contributions 1 to 1. That means if you donate $100 to the challenge, Eli will donate $100! All money raised through this challenge will benefit the Children's Cancer Institute at Hackensack University Medical Center and will help their littlest patients become kids again!

We care about finding a cure for pediatric cancer, and we hope you do, too! The Children's Cancer Institute at HackensackUMC has stood as a beacon of hope for children and families dealing with pediatric cancer...but more can be done. Pediatric cancer is the #1 cause of death by disease among children in the US and only 4% of cancer research dollars are allocated to pediatric cancer. These facts are devastating, but the doctors at the Children's Cancer Institute are working tirelessly to find a cure. Please support us and help end childhood cancer!

Hackensack to host a commemoration of the 240th anniversary of George Washington's encampment on "The Green" which took place in November 1776

To commemorate the 240th anniversary of George Washington's encampment on "The Green", which took place in November 1776, Hackensack will be hosting a special program on November 12.

The commemoration will take place at 12 noon on the Courthouse Green - (Main & Court Streets) in Hackensack, the actual site of the 1776 encampment (If there is inclement weather on November 12 the commemoration will take place at the Johnson Public Library located at 274 Main Street in Hackensack, NJ).

The commemoration program will include local re-enactors speaking to the events that led up to the encampment that took place on “The Green” as well as to the encampment itself, and the initial events that took place after they broke camp, and continued on their retreat. Additionally, the re-enactors will be availible afterwards to field questions from those in attendance.

According to Ed Moderacki, re-enactor and historian, who will be participating in the event “Washington's time at Hackensack marked one of the lowest periods for the Continental Army. The British had inflicted a series of defeats on the Continentals during the New York Campaign. Then on November 16th, Fort Washington fell with the loss of twenty-eight hundred men. Four days later, the British successfully invaded New Jersey, and Washington lead his portion of the Army on his retreat across New Jersey.”

Ed goes on to say “On Washington's last night in Hackensack, all he had to do to see the threat to his army was to look across the Hackensack River. Along the east bank of the Hackensack, the camp fires of the British Army shone brightly……..”

Notice: Teterboro Airport Noise Compatibility Planning Study Public Information Workshop - September 22, 2016

As part of the ongoing Part 150 Study for Teterboro Airport, The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey will be hosting a public information workshop on Thursday, September 22nd, 2016 from 6:00pm-9:00pm at the:

At this workshop, a Noise Exposure Map (NEM) will be presented that describes the Teterboro (TEB) Airport layout and related levels of noise exposure in the surrounding area for the current year (2016), and a forecasted future year (2021).

The workshop will be held in an "open house" format from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. In order to provide the public with the maximum opportunity for one-on-one interaction and sharing of information and concerns you may attend at any time during the three-hour open house.

Please read the following details carefully as action may be required on your end:

 MySQL Upgrade - Phase 1 of 2

 Background Information:
 Users with older websites, or servers that had old_passwords enabled in MySQL, still use an outdated style of password hash. MySQL started using a new, more complex version of password encryption beginning with version 4.1. For increased security, MySQL 5.6 (and MariaDB 10.1) now strictly requires storing passwords using the stronger hash method. Because of this newly enforced MySQL requirement, all users with database passwords stored in the outdated format will need to update their stored passwords.

 Maintenance Action:
 We will be disabling support for old_passwords on your server one week from today. In order to avoid possible service interruptions, please ensure all database user passwords are updated before this is done.

 Action already taken (on our end):
 In an effort to ease our clients into this transition, we went through all of our shared servers and automatically updated the hashes for all passwords we could find within a configuration file. If you have a WordPress site, any other CMS, or even a hand coded site, it is possible that we were able locate a working password and automatically store it in the new style of hash. However, certain users may still need to manually update their passwords. For each client, we have generated a list of database users we were not able to update in the form of a text file. If applicable, this file was placed in the cPanel home directory.

 If you have one of these files in your cPanel home directory, you will need to update the password(s) for each listed database user.
