Hackensack Discussion / Re: Borgs Woods

Perhaps the people from Maywood should also be invited...I've heard from people on the western edge of Maywood that said they are roaming their back yards.

I remember him well & can't think of anyone who didn't like him...I also, was a 1965 Grad & was shocked by his passing as were many others.

A friend & I watched from one of the High Rise Condos on Prospect. They must have been Paramus in the Park next to the Parkway just the other side of the Plaza.. That's our best guess.

Yes, the siding went to the Northwest corner of the building where the Garden Center was in the later years. I believe it was spit and another branch went to the south side of the building as well.

There was some heavy tree removal on Summit Ave 2 weeks ago north of Passaic St. In my opinion..it was needed badly. The trees that were taken look dangerous to me for yaers...I'm " assuming " the City paid for this service.

I sent a message to the maker of the site to say thanks for his effort...and he appreciated the positive posts that we added. Turns out 2 of his Cousins were in My Graduating class. I thank you for finding it to begin with.

Hackensack Discussion / Hackensack Ave Construction ?
« on: March 18, 2011, 11:43:03 AM »
Does anyone know what all the action is that's going on in the Target parking lot. There are a lot Trailers in a fenced in area.

Across the street at 56 Hackensack Ave they are tearing down the old house where
" Physic Sarah " place was. Will it be a vacant lot or is something going to be built ?

Hackensack Discussion / Re: Main St. Redevelopment

I hope they're not encouraging HUMC to purchase property on Main St. and take more rateable's off the Table !

One of the proposals calls for HUMC to relocate some of its medical office space to downtown, Narva said.

"The hospital should look at this new downtown reorganized reposition district as an absolute destination by which they can build their hospital components," he said. "A lot of medical office space can come out of the hospital facility itself, a lot of the wellness components can come out of the hospital grounds."

Another new neighbor is opening up at 842 Main St... Where the old Princess Liquors and more recently the Tea Shop with a happy ending.  I'm told that a Jeweler who has a store  on Kinderkamack Rd in Oradell is moving in the space. Work has begun and they're making quick work of it. Rumor has it that " Charles Jewelers " formally on Anderson St is moving back into town. Things are looking up in the neighborhood

The enlarged view of the picture shows that the Oratani Theater hasn't been built yet and the Prospect Ave Train Station is clearly on American Legion east of Prospect.

Once enlarged and time spent... a lot of things become obvious. Pretty cool !  8)

No problem with the location... those were the businesses that were there over the past 26 years. I thought it might help as a landmark for some people.

I had the Pulled Pork Sandwich today and it was very good... if you decide to try the place - make sure you order the fresh cut Sweet Potato Fries.. excellent !!!  One of my Guys had the Wings with the special sauce and he gave me one - very nice. I think this place will be here for a long time !
