HACKENSACK — The city school district plans to spend less money in the 2014-15 school year, but a tax increase has been proposed.

Four people are vying for two three-year terms on the Board of Education.
The city school board has proposed a $104 million budget, which is down $455,337, from last year, supported by a $73.34 million tax levy. The levy is up $2.17 million from last year.

HACKENSACK - Voters who made their way to the polls Wednesday approved the district tax levy and named four trustees, including two incumbents, to the Board of Education.
The approved $73.4 million tax levy will support a total budget of $104 million. For a home assessed at $240,329, taxes will increase $116 on the school portion of the property tax. The tax levy was approved in a 418-183 vote, according to unofficial results.
