Title: Photos I may never be able to take again
Post by: BLeafe on November 01, 2017, 02:30:00 PM
Once the 395 Main project goes up, my 30-year, living-room view of the river - one of my favorite subjects - will be gone forever, so as these rare views present themselves, I'll post them while I still can.

1. For a couple of weeks each year, the sun sparkles up the river - sometimes blindingly bright - but this one is just right.

2. It's just another Chicken Supreme sunrise over a pink river (sounds like the Eagles' "Tequila Sunrise", but more colorful) with Fort Lee's The Modern 1 & 2 towers holding down the horizon. I took just before 7:30 this morning.

Were it not for the cloudiness, the river reflection would have been blindingly bright.

Merry Christmas.

Title: Hackensack River moonshine
Post by: BLeafe on April 06, 2018, 05:15:00 PM
It isn't often that a shot of the moon lighting up the river presents itself (and the stupid 2 year-old lights from the Noches de Colombia rear parking lot really screw things up), so when I saw this, I realized that this just may be the last time I'll ever get this shot once the 395 Main St project rises.

I wasn't successful getting the restaurant to do the right thing and aim their PSE&G-installed lights properly, so I'll gladly pass that battle on to the richer, east-facing new 395 dwellers, who will really hate how obnoxiously close and bright these lights will be in their living rooms.

Maybe if they scream loud enough, this town will wake up and create a light-control ordinance and get PSE&G to stop installing 2nd-floor lighting that illuminates the heavens - something they always claim is "in compliance"! (with what?)
