My feeble attempt. The sound was more impressive.

Hackensack Discussion / Uncle Floyd on Main Street today
« on: May 14, 2018, 05:29:49 PM »
So I heard he was going to be in town today. I was doing my daily tour when a friend of mine called me to say he was at the check cashing place. I started heading in that direction and we met along the way. We did a brief interview about Hackensack's Redevelopment. I'm hoping Bob will post more about the show. Fun day!

Eric, then make drinking, smoking and high cholesterol foods illegal. Reduce the speed limit from 65 to 45. You'll save countless lives. Where does it end?

Here are the prior discussions on this if anyone is interested:

Looking back, my thinking hasn't changed much.  I have no objection to a fence but I question its effectiveness. However, if the account above is accurate, a fence would have likely prevented this tragedy.

But then my questions are: Couldn't this have just as easily been a bus on the street? Why are we necessarily treating trains differently? Since 2010, there have been 4 deaths in Hackensack by train, including the latest 2. There have been at least as many killed by cars, probably more. (See http://www.hackensacknow.org/index.php?topic=3413.0). What infrastructure would need to be erected to prevent vehicular/pedestrian deaths? Will people eventually begin to think that they are allowed to walk wherever they don't see a fence, even when other obvious warnings are present? Where does it end? At what cost?

For me, the better solution is personal accountability. Without it, we can't erect enough fencing. Ever.
