I looked out my LR window this morning and saw two PSE&G repair trucks on Ward St by the E lot - nothing unusual there.

Two minutes later, I only saw one truck and it was turning around and backing up one-way Ward.............unusual.

Something must be going on on the other side of my building, so I walked across the roof, looked down, and saw this (first picture).

I cropped it to get a better look at what they were doing (second picture). It reminds me of work being done in bay of a space shuttle in orbit.

I cropped it again to get a look at what's in the buckets and side bags (third picture).

I took a grand total of two pictures. The first one just showed the guys in their buckets, but this one showed some interaction between them.

I wish I had taken more.

There were two police cars parked 100' or so behind them. Somebody nearby started shooting off what sounded like oversized bottle rockets. If the cops had looked up, all they would have seen was a lone figure standing on the roof - me.

I had what I needed, so I went in and got to croppin'.

Interesting pictures. From my few years of sharing pole space with my PSEG brothers in the days when bucket trucks were rare I would say he was cutting a tap wire off the bottom leg of the three phase service wires two of which are covered with orange insulator sleeves. A non-insulated wire would indicate it was not live at that time and if the yellow handled tool was a cutter he was trimming away something no longer needed and his partner was holding that tap so it did not cause problems when cut.

Just a guess since things have changed some in the last hundred years.

The fact that you are able to use the roof seems to indicate the cell phone antennae issue has been resolved or at least put into a less hazardous condition.

The only way the issue can ever be resolved is when the antennas are removed.
