Freezing in Foschini Park
« on: February 17, 2013, 07:07:07 PM »
Considering this afternoon's frigid temperatures and brutal winds, today probably wasn't the best day to take a walk to Foschini Park, but I needed the exercise and felt like doing a shoot.

I entered the park by Hackensack Toyota and started walking on the "boardwalk" around the ball fields. When I got near Foschini Point (the northeasternmost  corner where the river bends around to continue its flow south), I decided to trade the boardwalk for the bramble and stumble my way to the river's edge.

Of course, there's ZERO protection from the wind there. There were actual tiny waves breaking on the shore from the relentless north wind pushing the water. Naturally, I decided that was a good time to take my gloves off and shoot a 6-photo stitch of the river at Kipp's Bend.

The river is flowing east in the first half and south in the second half.

I shot other stuff while I was in the park, but I'll add that another time. Right now, I'm too busy defrosting my face from that walk home against the wind.

As usual, click to enlarge.

This is a great picture.  I don't see the photostitch seams.  Looking forward to getting the kayak in the water again this year.

I don't see the photostitch seams.

I get lucky once in a while.

Other Foschini shots from yesterday:

1, 2.  Logs

3, 4.  Future logs

5.  Garbage

6.  Integrated snow piles

7.  Geese & gulls, with geese facing the wind and tucking their heads under their wings for protection (I should have done that)

8.  The view from the park  (check out the flag - wind coming right at me and the geese)

9, 10.  These were taken on the way to and from the park. Gotta use that wind for something good, right?
