Hackensack Discussion / Re: "THE SACK"
« on: November 27, 2020, 07:53:17 AM »
I've heard that nickname before, it didn't really bother me although in the 80's when people would say "Crackensack" I would get annoyed. I've been hearing some radio commercials lately reporting the recent business growth in the downtown area and I believe the website is TheSack.biz

Hackensack History / Re: Hackensack Record King
« on: November 22, 2020, 07:09:25 AM »
Took a ride into town yesterday to visit my old favorite record store again. Craig was his usual gentleman to me and my wife, our daughter is really into used vinyl so I got her a gift certificate for the store (i wanted to buy her a shirt too but he had no more). Anyway, Main St was all torn up for many blocks there...amidst all the dust we got a slice at the pizzeria across the street (which was a little disappointing actually, not as good as I remembered it)
His gift certificate was so cool, he put a little embossed stamp on it to prove it's authentic too! We'll probably head over there on Black Friday, this time I'll skip the pizza though... :-\

I got mine inspected back in November the day after Thanksgiving...no wait at all that day, everyone was at the malls thankfully. If I had to get inspection now I'd pay to get it done somewhere, DMV in any capacity is a disaster these days  :-[

No not looking to move, i just like to see what rents are going for these days...myself I haven't been in that building since the 70's when my dad had a checking account with that bank.

Just looking around on NJMLS I saw the "chic" new 210 Main apartment complex...wow they are beautiful but really pricey! The description was "the new wave of living in Hackensack". Has anyone seen this new spot in person?

Last time I was there was probably in November or December...it was empty. And i'm talking in the "dinner time" hours of 6-7pm. A shame

Your first picture reminds me of when DiSalvo's was on the left hand side almost across from the CVS

Wonder how it would have gotten bent like that in the first place...kids hanging on it or something?

Great collection Bob! When I was a kid there was a place a few doors before the library we used to get our patches at. I think it was some sort of a sewing shop?

Went to B-W on Saturday and decided to look for it in person, in it's current state it looks like it won't be long before it's replaced
