I am sorry for causing confusion, because I have to be careful as to what to say on this website, what last names are OK to reference. I wasn't referring to the Underwood last name.
The "Underwood" issue was big news in Hackensack around 2004 or so, there were newspaper articles, an investigation by the Board of Chosen Freeholders, and it even went on trial. The accused were exonerated of any serious charges. Those who remember that issue know what prominent Hackensack family owns that corporation. I'm not going to say it on this blog, but it is well known throughout the city.
I'm wondering if that family that was involved in the illegal booze operation of the 1920's is the same family that owns the Underwood Corporation that leases parking spaces on State Street. Maybe they picked that "Underwood" name for the new corporation because someone in their family past was involved in that illegal booze operation called "Underwood". And they just thought that it would be appropriate. Just pure speculation.
Does anyone know the last names of the people involved in the Underwood illegal booze operation. If so, post it and that will answer the question.
