This is an old (1910-1923) photo album that the seller has titled, "1910s PHOTO ALBUM NYC NJ AREA AFFECTIONATE MEN GAY".

There are a lot of photos shown from many places, but I'm only posting the Hackensack-related page labeled "Hackensack Boat Races July 4, 1912".

did you say the title includes the words:  AFFECTIONATE MEN GAY

It's amazing how the meaning of words changes in only 100 years.  Even within one language, the context, the slang, the meaning, it all has all changed so much.

This is exactly why it is difficult to pull the original meaning out of The Bible, as important and true as it is.

I think that instead of "pulling the original meaning out of the Bible" you can pull the original meaning out of history books which refer to the gay nineties as the freewheeling, good ol' times lifestyle of the 1890's which had absolutely nothing to do with homosexuality

Thanks Ol Homer for describing the past meaning of the word GAY.  Back when the world was a whole lot simpler.

I only mentioned The Bible as an extrapolation.  If the meaning of the word GAY has changed so much in only 100 years, how much has the meaning of words of The Bible changed in thousands of years.  To the best of my knowledge, the word GAY is not in The Bible.
