Description:

Fabulous Palmer Cox Brownie book features his endearing creatures taking a trip through the states of the union.

Keep in mind this was over 100 years ago, so some of the pictures reflect the times, making this book even more special than some of his other themes.

Brownies go through 14 states that inlcude New York, Rhode Island, Florida, Massachuesetts, New Jersey, Connecticut, Texas, Pennsylvanis, Illinois, Louisiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Washington and California.

See the Brownies visit the relatively "new" Statue of Liberty (dedicated in 1886), Golden Gate (bridge not built yet), Ticonderoga, Tarrytown, St. Augustine, orange orchards, Everglades, Boston Common, Plymouth Rock, Cambridge, Hackensack, New Haven, Charter Oak, the Wild West, oil wells, coal mines, harbors, swamps, cotton fields, horse races, mills, log jams, Seal Rock -- the list goes on and on -- a vertiable walk across America as it was in the late 19th century -- all through the eyes of the Brownies.

Hardcover book has age-appropriate wear with scuffed corners, covers, aging, etc. (see above).
Pages are intact with a couple of pages containing edge tears (about one inch).  Age spotting along page edges (see above).

All in all, the worn patina of this delightful book is one of its treasures.

If you love the Palmer Cox Brownies, you will want this book in your collection.

Seller has posted many images, but I have only posted the New Jersey one. I find it interesting that the image chosen 116 years ago for the New Jersey page was the Statue of Liberty.

Since the seller mentioned that the Brownies visited Hackensack, I asked him/her to email me a scan of that image/text. The reply indicated that that would happen. When it does, I'll post it.
