As a result of the Hammy article, I was sent an email that originated from a gentleman who used to live in the Quail Heights building at 240 Prospect about 6 years ago.
Like me, he also lived 7 floors up. Also like me, he was visited by a hawk, which - in this case -perched on his balcony. Like Hammy, this hawk faced east (see picture below).
"I still remember that loud thumping sound as the hawk landed on the railing – I was privileged enough to have 2 separate visits...I am very glad the Record decided to do a whole story on Hammy. Great pics!"
I wonder how many other hawk visits have actually occurred at Hackensack residences.
This is around the time last year when Hammy stopped showing up, which is unfortunate because he was only here for 2 weeks this time around. Last winter, it was 2 months.
If he comes back next winter, I think I'm gonna try to get my building renamed "Hawk Heights".
