Drug sweep nets Hackensack a city record 135 arrests

A paroled child rapist and murderer was among 160 alleged drug dealers targeted in a massive two-day drug sweep in Hackensack — and police say they have information that could connect him to other cold-case killings of boys in New Jersey.

Police say Charles Williams, center, was dealing drugs even as he was reporting to authorities as a sex offender.
The man with the graying hair in Apartment 5C seemed quiet, but not aloof. Neighbors at the Hackensack apartment building where he lived say he had an easy smile and often said hello as they passed in the hallways or through the main entrance.

But Charles Williams also harbored a secret and sordid past.

He was a paroled sex offender and murderer.
