HACKENSACK – A resident and school board member is suing the city, alleging he was unfairly charged $450 to obtain two months of legal bills and vouchers under the state Open Public Records Act.

Jason Nunnermacker, who filed the lawsuit last week, alleged that the city violated the public-records law and tried to limit access to information about how much the city spends on legal fees.

HACKENSACK — A request for public documents that should have cost about $15 in photocopying fees may wind up costing Hackensack taxpayers more than $20,000 in legal bills, according to documents filed this week by a resident's attorney. The hefty bills follow a judge's decision in May that described Hackensack's handling of the records request as "improper" under the law.
