Are you sure that was the name? I don't know about the  rest of  the 80s, but in 1983 the record store there was called Record World.

The very first picture under "Hackensack" on  my site is one I took of Pia Zadora at Record World in 1983.

I do remember a store called World Imports, but I'm pretty sure it was elsewhere. I also think they sold interesting stuff because I flashed on the name as soon as I read what you wrote.

Anybody out there remember anything about World Imports?

Wait a minute! You would actually admit on a public forum that you went to see Pia Zadora?

I was working and if you actually went to my site and saw what I wrote and noticed its tone, you wouldn't ask that question.

And I still have no idea why she was there.

But you can buy the nice picture of her, Homer................you'd be the first.

Wasn't World Imports on 17N in Rochelle Park? next to the Hole in the Wall? I think they sold some furniture and decorative items. If it's the place I'm thinking of they had a tiger skin rug (I'm sure it was fake) that as a kid I really wanted.... and no I am not a decorator or into fashion. Just thought it was real cool.

World Imports was in the Bergen Mall.   was the spencers of its day, with a head shop element to it.

What was the store on 17 called? I remember something at that location that fit the given description.

World Imports sold nunchucks, Chinese stars, and glow-in the-dark, velvet posters. As Spock would say..." fascinating".
