1. From this angle, the Ling looks rather listless.........and loooooooong. This is - by far - my best shot/stitch of it.

Aside from the sub, there are 3 other projects in the picture: one new, one being renovated and one dying.

2. To be fair to the other side of the Court St bridge, I also took this while I was there.

Vandals have again attacked the Ling. This time, they attached some sort of banner to it. In the second picture, an apparent lookout vandal is shown at the bottom of the pic.

The Ling in "Sea History" magazine

My picture of it is too, so they sent me a copy of the magazine and I've scanned page 5's letter from a gentleman in Hawthorne.

Of course, with the interest expressed by the proposed Louisville Naval Museum and the non-profit's supporters already trying to repair the U.S.S. Ling, the letter from the Hawthorne man is outdated. The Save the USS Ling group seems determined to save the boat.

Of course...the letter from the Hawthorne man is outdated.

Well, let's see what Reading Comprehension 101 says:

Ignoring the fact that it was written at LEAST two months ago (the lead time for a magazine - it's not The Record, you know), the man's letter was about trying to get the very wealthy to contribute mightily to the cause of saving MULTIPLE ships that are in desperate need of restoration/salvation. As an example that's literally close to home for him, he mentioned the Ling's predicament.

So unless ALL the ships in a similar situation have been saved in the week since the magazine came out, the letter is FAR from outdated.

Unfortunately, it may never become outdated...............and neither should good reading comprehension.

A great job of rewriting earlier reports about the rescue effort for the U.S.S. Ling.

"Get me rewrite" undoubtedly reverberated through that newsroom. In other words, old news.

The first pic/stitch was taken from the top of a fence that now bars the public from the site. The rest were taken fore and aft of the Court St Bridge.

Last image: from the bottom, it's out with the old, in with the new.
